The Back Roads Century is one of the premier cycling events in the
mid-Atlantic region, and is also considered one of the most beautiful
rides in America.
Each fall in late September, Potomac Pedalers invites cycling
enthusiasts of all ability levels for a great day of riding and fun in
the Shenandoah Valley; with distances of 25, 30, 50, 65 and 100 miles.
It’s a fully supported event providing cue sheets, rest stops with food
and drinks, as well as mechanical support during your ride.
The Back Roads Century travels through several small towns and villages
that helped shape our nation’s history. We start in Berryville, VA, a
colonial crossroads settlement. You’ll pass through the historic towns
of Middleway and White Post. And one of our rest stops is at the
Burwell-Morgan Mill, established in 1785. Another popular destination
during our ride is White Post Restorations, which is where we serve our
"world famous” tomato sandwiches; freshly made under a shady oak tree,
for you to relax and enjoy before completing your ride.
After you conclude your ride, we have a cookout with hamburgers, hot
dogs and other treats – this is included with your registration fee!
You also receive a free Back Roads Century logo t-shirt to commemorate
your day.
For further details and ride registration, please visit our Back
Roads Century website at www.BackRoadsCentury.org. Here you can review our routes, learn about our ride, and see participant testimonials from last year’s event.
So if you’re looking for a challenging, rewarding and fun way to spend a
beautiful fall day, be sure to attend the Back Roads Century. We’d
love to see you there!
