Americaandrsquo;s top men and women professional cyclists will vie for Stars-and-Stripes jerseys at the 2013 Volkswagen USA Cycling Professional Road andamp; Time Trial National Championship, which for the first time in the eventand#39;s 28-year history will be held in Chattanooga, Tenn., on May 25 and 27. It will also feature the inaugural professional womenandrsquo;s national championships.
Alex Grant (Salt Lake City, Utah/Sho-Air - Cannondale) and Monique andquot;Puaandquot; Mata (Yucaipa, Calif./Sho-Air - Cannondale) both came away victorious at Sundayand#39;s opening round of the USA Cycling Pro Mountain Bike Ultra-Endurance Tour (Pro UET), the US Cup - Sagebrush Safari 50 held in Lake Morena, Calif.
The USA Cycling National Track Calendar began its 2013 edition at The Superdrome in Frisco, Texas, at the Matrix Cup p/b Richardson Bike Mart. Endurance riders competed in the points race, scratch race and individual pursuit while sprinters vied for points in the match sprint and time trial. After the weekend of racing, several familiar names surfaced atop the standings.
The USA Cycling National Criterium Calendar rolled through its tenth event of the year, the Wilmington Grand Prix in Wilmington, Del. After the dust had settled on a spectacular day of racing on Saturday, there was a new leader in the NCC menand#39;s standings.
All five members of the 2012 Olympic team will be competing alongside more of the countryand#39;s best BMX riders vying for Stars-and-Stripes jerseys on Saturday, May 18, at the 2013 USA Cycling Elite BMX National Championships.
The juniors riders in the USA Cycling National Development Program continue to represent the United States very well with another podium appearance last week. Meanwhile, the U23 riders were riding in Luxembourg and the mountain bike development season started in the Netherlands.
