Welcome to Potomac Pedalers!

Potomac Pedalers is a non-profit educational, recreational and social organization for bicycling enthusiasts. We are the largest cycling club in the Washington, DC region, and we're also one of the largest bike clubs in the nation.

Potomac Pedalers offers over 1,000 group rides each year, comprehensively covering the variable terrain of our nation's capital and the surrounding countryside of Maryland and Virginia. Our ride distances are typically between 15 and 75 miles, and average speeds range from 8 mph to more than 20 mph. In other words, we have rides for cyclists of all abilities.

Please take a look around to learn more about us. And if you love riding as much as we do, welcome to our club! Click here to join now!

Potomac Pedalers is pleased to announce their sponsorship of WABA's Women & Bicycles Program!

What does that mean? It means Potomac Pedalers and the Women & Bicycles group will partner together to create at least four original women-only rides, catering to different skills and biking goals. While Potomac Pedalers promises to do what we do so well in terms of putting on great rides, the Women & Bicycles group will support us by promoting Potomac Pedalers as an official sponsor on their website, blogs entries, and emails, reaching the 3000+ members of the W&B group. The first ride is schedule for May 9, taking place in Rock Creek Park, with a picnic/tailgate afterward. Stay tuned for details specific to this event!

Lewes Delaware Weekend - April 24-26, 2015 (Sold Out)

Be sure to get an early jump on spring 2015 by joining Potomac Pedalers for a weekend at the beach in late April. Lewes is a small, picturesque, and historic town near Rehoboth Beach. This weekend is noted for its sociability and ease in meeting new people, so come alone or with a friend or spouse. This year we will limit attendance to 84 people, so sign up early – it has sold out the last two years.

We will have rides ranging in length from 20 to 65+ miles, all flat (although we reluctantly admit sometimes there are headwinds at the beach). Many rides visit nearby wildlife refuges, a winery, and beaches. Lorraine McCall is planning more excellent food (last year’s food was totally the best).

Spring Thaw and Tandem Rally - April 30 - May 3, 2015 (Sold Out)

Once again, Potomac Pedalers will host and partner with Eastern Tandem Rally to show off the wonderful Eastern Shore cycling. Spring Thaw is a regional cycling event and attacts many people from the East Coast and Mid-West. Four days of riding: no hills, sparse traffic, wide shoulders. Perfect for getting back into cycling after a long winter.

Routes will lead to the water with spectacular scenery among world-class environmental ecosystems. The Saturday ride will include the Six Pillar Century (entry price will be included in the weekend price), which visits the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. (The Six Pillar Century also has shorter rides than 100 miles for those not up to the full distance.) We expect about one third single bikes and two-third tandems, but uni-cyclists are also welcome to join us.

Shenandoah Weekend - July 10-12, 2015

Dreaming of summer and a cool mountain breeze? Then mark your calendars for the Potomac Pedalers Shenandoah Valley Weekend, July 10-12. Based in Mt. Jackson, Virginia, the event features plenty of hills for those inclined to climb, but also features rolling terrain for the rest of us. There are lots of different cue sheets to choose from.

We are staying at the Super 8 motel in Mt. Jackson, which is only a few hours from Washington, DC. Bring your bathing suit and enjoy the outdoor pool. Cue sheets will be available by noon on July 10, so plan to come early and ride.
