Really "wild, wonderful". Since some "A" riders will be helping Rudi Riet run the White Post rest stop on the club century Sunday morning, we're going to miss out on the full century, so here's an opportunity for a good long ride, with four climbs and fun descents. Ride leader's Garmin recorded 7,700 feet of climbing last year. Ride leader averaged 15.1 mph last October, but expects to ride stronger as it is "peak" season --16mph or better. The ride name is word play on the 4 major climbs

The ride name is word play on the 4 major climbs and the part of your body greeted by them. The first leg climbs up through what appears to be the northern rubble of Great North Mtn., with a chance for an early pit stop (maybe not?) at Siler, and then we reach up into WVa and over Sleepy Creek Mtn, to the main stop at Shanghai, WVa, in Back Valley. From there, we cruise up the valley by Tomahawk and back 'n' forth over North Mtn ("quads" #2 & 3), nearly returning to the Shanghai store but turning up our 4th "quad", through Mill's Gap and down to Gerrardstown. The final miles are pretty flat, passing by White Hall and through more apple country.

[Directions: FROM I-66 (& rt.50): go west past Marshall to Rt.17 north to Rt.50 and continue west on 50-17; approaching Winchester, cross over I-81 AND STAY RIGHT, BR onto single-lane road (has sign for "50"); it merges with a road and passes through some lights; IN ABOUT 1.1mi after crossing I-81, turn R onto Cameron St (one-way, 2 or 3 lanes); and here the signage is pretty obvious, and will direct you for "50 West" to Amherst, on which you go about 1 mile to James Wood MS on left (after Amherst widens w-median). FROM Rt.7, well, follow signs to "50 West" as you enter Winchester, and you'll come in at Picadilly St, and cross Cameron to Braddock, noted above. Park on the west side of JWMS.]
