These rides explore the beautiful rolling farmland of Frederick & Carroll counties, visiting the small towns of Unionville, New Windsor, Uniontown, & Union Bridge (hence the title). There are rest stops in New Windsor & Union Bridge. The various routes share many roads, and should bring riders into rest stops at similar times. We plan to picnic afterwards and have reserved the park's shelter w-tables and grills for the occasion; bring something for the picnic, and work up your appetite -- share some food, further conversations & acquaintances (in the sun, we'll hope).

(Directions: Pick your preference -- some like longer & straighter, via Frederick; others prefer "over the fields and through the woods ..." on Rt.75 - Green Valley Rd. Libertytown Park is located 0.25mi east of the junction of Rts 75 - Green Valley Rd & 26 - Liberty Rd. Some MD members should look for routes through Mt. Airy onto Old Annapolis Rd; others & Virginians can go north on I-270 to exit #22 for "Barnesville, Hyattstown" onto MD-109 North - Old Hundred Rd; turn L onto 109 for 0.4mi to the light (T); L again onto 355 north for about 0.5mi, then bR onto 75 - Green Valley Rd and follow it north 14mi to Libertytown (there is a short jog L-R at a light w-Rt.80, and just south of the I-70 overpass at New Market, a L t-r-o 75, well signed). In Libertytown (Rt.75 here is Walnut St.), turn R at the light onto Rt 26 - Main St; the park is on the right in a quarter mile. The longer, less scenic, expressway route is: go north on I-270, continue a little less than 4 miles north from where it becomes Rt.15 (pass Frederick exits), turn right on Rt 26 - Liberty Rd and go approx. 9.5 miles, through Libertytown & past the light, to the park on right. (The park address is 12201 Liberty Rd, Libertytown, MD 21762, which via MapQuest etc. can give you a look at the lay of the town.)) Dan Lehman [riDEsigns@yahoo.com] 703-241-9113
