B/BB (MH) * 60 * VA * 8:30 AM* Blue Ridge Views * Warrenton Municipal Lot-A (WAR)

From downtown Warrenton we’ll head westward to the hills, passing through Orleans on the way to Flint Hill, via the hilly Leeds Manor and Crest Hill Roads. After a rest stop (with flush toilets) at Flint Hill, we go south on rolling hills through Ben Venue and then east to Rixeyville for stop number two. From there it is east and north back to Warrenton. As the name suggests, there are views of the Blue Ridge plus sightings of lesser-known hill and ridges. There is about 3,670 feet of climbing.

There is about 3,670 feet of climbing, but no killer steep grades.

Route available at http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4693835

A few notes: no restroom at the ride start, so stop at a gas station before arriving or buy coffee at the Red Truck Bakery (two blocks from start) to use their facilities.

Best way to reach Warrenton from the east is to exit I-66 at Haymarket (Exit 40, US 15), turn left onto US 15, take south about 2 miles  to U.S. 29, where you turn  right toward Warrenton. Exiting at U.S. 15 avoids the never-ending construction and traffic in Gainesville. This is different from how Garmin or Google Maps will route you.

No go in rain.

Ride leader will pedal at a non-threatening B pace and fully anticipates to be dropped on the hills by the BBs a few miles outside of Warrenton.

Got questions, call or send e-mail before the morning of the ride.
