B/BB * 25 * MD * 6 AM * Summer Solstice Ridefest - Dawn Patrol * EE Halmos Park, Poolesville

A short (26 miles) run up to the top of Sugarloaf to see the early morning sunrise over the Maryland countryside. The Summer Solstice is officially at 6:51, so we may stop to see if we can stand an egg per New Age legend. No go in rain. The longest day of the year falls on a weekend this year, and we hope to take advantage of almost all those daylight hours to ride our bikes and hang out with our biking friends.

The longest day of the year falls on a weekend this year, and we hope to take advantage of almost all those daylight hours to ride our bikes and hang out with our biking friends. We have three rides scheduled, so you can pick and choose all or some of the rides, and we will have shade, food, cold drinks, and good company at the park all day (and restrooms) so you can rest and recover between rides or just hang out for part of the day. We plan to have some sort of food & or cold drinks (non alcoholic) at the park. Our ExCom is contributing $150 towards our refreshments.

EE Halmos Park is located on Hoskinson Road in Poolesville, MD on the south side of town. From points east, take MD 107 (Whites Ferry Rd/Fisher Ave) towards Poolesville. As you enter Poolesville (but before you get to Westerly or Wooten Ave) turn left on Tom Fox Ave. Cross Hughes and take the first right onto Hoskinson. Follow Hoskinson around the sharp bend to the right (and past the first entrance to the park) to the parking lot on the right. Parking is somewhat limited, so please be sensitive to neighbors if you park on the street. If the lot is full, consider parking at Poolesville High School (POO) or the shopping center at Hughes & Wooten and riding less than a mile to the Park.

No go in rain.
