We are starting a new ride classification— TRI— and this will be the inaugural ride. These rides are for riders who participate in triathlons, or who might be interested in TRI-ing one.
We hope to have groups of various paces leaving from Riley’s Lock every Thursday at 4:30 through the summer. The route will be 28 miles from Riley’s to Poolesville and back, on roads familiar to most (River, Mt. Nebo, Westerly, etc.) We’ll post Ride With GPS files prior to the ride, and have cue sheets available at the ride.
The ride leaders encourage triathletes of any experience level (even newbies) to participate, as long as the riders are able to complete the mileage, maintain at least a B pace, and be able to change a tire or handle other minor inconveniences. We welcome road bikes as well as TRI/time trial bikes.
Important: we will be following the USA Triathlon rule (for braking safety) that riders must maintain a distance of at least 3 bike lengths from the nearest rider (except when passing). Because we are expecting both fast and not-so-fast riders, we expect that the group will spread out and the ride leaders won’t necessarily try to hold the groups together.
We are not planning on having a rest stop.
Please contact the ride leader (Paul Huey-Burns at email@example.com) for details about what the TRI classification is all about.
No go in rain. Please check the MD Ride Forum for updates if the weather is iffy.
