PPTC will host a repeat performance of a combined event with Eastern Tandem Rally, where we can show off the wonderful Eastern Shore cycling to (and meet) cyclists from throughout the East Coast. We’ll have four days of riding with no hills, sparse traffic, wide shoulders, and many roads near the water with world class environmental amenities.
The rally will be based at the Holiday Inn Express in Cambridge, MD. Unfortunately (or fortunately for some) there will not be a tenting option this year. We will use the hotel’s conference facility. The price for the weekend of $145 per person (for Potomac Pedalers members) or $170 (for non-members) includes: Thursday evening pizza dinner and wine and cheese party; Friday evening ice cream social; lunch on Friday; Saturday afternoon wine, beer and food get-together and speaker, Saturday night dinner, Saturday night band.
WHY YOU MUST REGISTER EARLY!
Lodging is not included in the price. You are also on your own for breakfasts, lunch on Thursday, dinner on Friday, and lunch on Saturday. The Holiday Inn and some of the other hotels in the area include a complimentary breakfast. The Holiday Inn will have sign-up sheets for reservations and discounts for group dining.
Because we are using the hotel’s conference facility, capacity is limited to 180. Registration will be closed once the capacity is reached, or on April 1, 2013.
Lodging: We have a special rate of $99 per night for the Holiday Inn. If you want to stay at the Holiday Inn, reserve a room now. Call the hotel, (410) 221-9900, and say you are registering for the Tandem Rally. Other lodging options are the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake (410) 901-1234 (across the street from the Holiday Inn), Days Inn (410) 228-4444, Comfort Inn (410) 901-0926, and Bed and Breakfasts in Cambridge. If you want help finding a roommate, contact Rich Tepel at rich.tepel@verizon.net.
You can also camp at Martinak (410-820-1668) or Tuckahoe State Parks (410-820-1668). Both are about 25 mi away. Some riders with motor homes stayed there last year.
Tandem Wannabees: If you would like to rent a tandem for the weekend, you can contact Mt Airy Bicycles (Maryland) at 301-831-5151.
