Our annual Potomac Pedalers Spring Thaw Weekend was held on April 18-21 in Cambridge, MD.
The trip was fantastic. We had about 180 people on the weekend. There were about one-third on single bikes and about two thirds on tandems. Weather was a bit cold but it only rained at night. Since we had a new location, all of the rides were new.
Jenny and Stan Sunderwirth spent a lot of time putting the rides together and we thank them for that. Larry and Linda Black did the food planning. Almost everyone gained weight. Steve Bilenky of Bilenky Cycle Works gave a great talk on the different bikes that he builds and his design goals.
The cue sheets are in the cue library if anyone wants to do any of the rides. They're listed under Spring Thaw 2013, Cambridge, MD.
The ride from Cambridge, MD to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge was spectacular. The roads had very little traffic and were perfectly flat. We didn’t see eagles at the Refuge but we did see ospreys, egrets and herons.
This is an annual club trip, so if you weren't able to make it this year, be sure to sign-up in 2014.
