The Nokesville Picnic is a great way to wrap up the summer riding season!

What: Rides in every ride class, with distances ranging from 11 – 51 miles
When: Sunday, August 24th

Where: Nokesville Park

Address: 12560 Aden Road, Nokesville, VA 20181

Food: Large picnic after the rides in the Pavilion

Come out to the Nokesville, Virginia countryside on Sunday August 24th for a day of riding and fun ending with a barbecue/picnic.  Now in its 17th year this annual gathering has grown into one of Potomac Pedalers’ largest events, regularly drawing over 200 riders of all ages and abilities.

As always, it’s open to everyone - new, old and nonmembers.  This is a multiclass ride with something for everyone, with rides ranging from 11-51 miles, covering classes from A to D. It’s a great way to meet people who are not in your usual ride class. Three couples who met at past Nokesville Picnics have gotten married!

After the ride we’ll gather at the pavilion for food. We’ll provide main dishes, drinks, plates, napkins, cups, utensils, and condiments.  Everyone is encouraged to bring a side dish – salad, chips, other dishes or desserts to share - which always results in an excellent potluck selection!

We are stressing going “green” at this picnic by encouraging lots of recycling and reuse.  Feel free to bring your own reusable plates or utensils to keep trash at a minimum.

Although we hope for a lovely day, this event is rain or shine.  The pavilion is large and quite nice, so don’t be discouraged if we happen to have bad weather.  We’ll all stay nice and dry under cover in the pavilion.

An information table will be available before and after the rides to answer questions anyone might have about each ride option, or how to join the club.

We could use some help with setting up, cooking, cleaning up, and manning the information table. Contact  Butch Counts if you would like to volunteer.   There will be a special volunteer’s ride of about 20 miles before the picnic.

Each individual Nokesville ride will be listed in the Club Ride Schedule in August.  Below are links to the interactive routes and GPX downloads.

Good afternoon all. Can anyone put me in touch with Nancy, she was one of the ride leaders this past weekend at the Nokesville ride. She gave me some great pointers that made a big difference in my riding and I would like to say thank you. Alan is my name. Thanks in advance.
