Volunteer With Potomac Pedalers

Potomac Pedalers is an all-volunteer organization.  Hundreds of our members generously donate their time and energies to keep our club going.  Our members do everything from leading rides; to answering phones; to editing articles; to updating our website.

In addition, we have several committees who handle different business areas, such as our Executive Committee, who oversee the operations of the club.  The Ride Committee, who puts together our fantastic ride schedule each month. And our Special Events Committee, who organizes all of our get-away weekends and other fun cycling events.  Take a look at our Club Officers and Committees page to get an idea of how many people volunteer for our various tasks.

Yet even with all of these great volunteers, we're always looking for more members to help out.

We know that many people are reluctant to volunteer because of the unknown.  You may say to yourself "I don't know anybody" or "I can't do that job".  We say "Don't worry about it".  We find that once someone becomes more involved with the club, they really enjoy their experience.  It's the best way to get to know fellow cyclists, and to form relationships with other members.  By volunteering, you may just meet your next best friend!

Many of our members volunteer for the same annual events year after year, because they find that volunteering is fun.  It's rewarding to serve sandwiches to a group of really hungry cyclists, and to hear "Thank You Very Much" over and over again.  That's why many of our members volunteer at our annual Back Roads Century ride in September.

Throughout the year we have different needs for different tasks.  Sometimes it's helping out at a special event like the Nokesville Picnic, and other times we're looking for members to take on positions on one of our committees.

Take a look at our Volunteer Position openings and let us know if you can help out.  Even if there isn't a position listed that's the exact task that you're looking for, contact us anyway.  You probably have a skill that we could use, or you could lend a helping hand at our next event.

Thank you for volunteering.  And remember, without volunteers Potomac Pedalers wouldn't exist!
