America/New_York Wild and Wonderful Classic ride over South Mountain (twice), the Blue Ridge, and MarLu Ridge passing through Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. Tough climbs, great descents, and nice scenery. We'll go through Gathland and Antietam, so it's almost like riding the Civil War Century without the extra 30 miles. Ice cream at South Mountain Creamery around mile 52, if you want that sloshing around inside you for 20 hot miles afterward. Main rest stop in Shepherdstown. If you did Trails to Sweets with me a couple of weeks ago, we'll ride a few of the same roads in the other direction but not so much that you'll be bored. There are four hard climbs, so take a look at the elevation profile if you've not done the ride before. I will bring paper cue sheets. If you want to print ahead of time, it's in the cue sheet library but there may be a few tweaks coming. The optional 72-mile route adds in lightly traveled and picturesque Roy Shafer, Paul Rudy and Sumatown off of Old Middletown, as suggested by route creator Barry Goldfarb. Adds a 1-mile detour and a little extra climbing. Try it out if you're feeling frisky when we get there. I only mention it now so that I can link to the additional GPS file without confusing you.
