America/New_York MLK Day Ride! Join me on MLK Day (1/20/20) as I will lead a Potomac Pedalers Urban Adventure Bicycle Ride that honors the fight and struggle of Martin Luther King Jr's legacy to build a free and equal world dedicated to social justice. Now, the weather for the day is calling for sunny skies with temperatures holding above the freezing mark with mild winds. But don't let a little cold deter you from coming out and struggling through this ride! We will stop along the way to warm up. The ride comes in around 35 miles at 1,400 feet of elevation, which will take us to the MLK Memorial, Emancipation Memorial, African American Civil War Memorial, the Contrabands and Freedmen Cemetery, MLK Elementary School and an off the beaten path MLK "I Have A Dream" Mural. Meet 10:45 AM East Potomac Golf Course located at 972 Ohio Dr SW, Washington, DC 20024. Wheels roll at 11:00 AM sharp. Water, restrooms, bike pumps at the ride start. Obviously, we will stop along the way for breaks and quick eats at a convenience store. However, I advise bringing your own riding eats. The ride should come in around the 3-4 hour range at around 12-14 mph range. It is a no-drop ride, but please feel to drop in and bring a friend! Also, I may have some cue sheets for the ride, but best that you download them and print them out from the Ride with GPS route link here: https://cutt.ly/Arcsmqy For those traveling to ride by vehicle, please take note parking is free on at the East Potomac Golf Course Park in the back big lot and meet at the East Potomac Park Golf Center sign down in front of where the Potomac Grill is located. And for those traveling by Metro, take either the Blue, Green, Orange, Silver or Yellow line and get off at the L'Enfant Station. Exit the Station on 7th St SW and head south for about 4 or 5 blocks to Maine Ave SW. Make a right on Maine Ave SW and go about a half-mile and make a left on Ohio Dr SW and travel about a mile and the Golf Course will be on your right.
