2020-06-18 10:00:00 2020-06-18 10:00:00 America/New_York Glen Echo Loops This ride goes out MacArthur Blvd and path, and then up hills and loops through residential neighborhoods into Avenel and Potomac, with a rest stop at Potomac Village. The route varies each week, and averages 1000’ of climbing. This is a scenic and social no drop ride, with enough flats and hills for a good workout. 2020-06-18 18:00:00 2020-06-18 18:00:00 America/New_York Thursday Night Trainer This is a generally fast paced cooperative training ride through the Laytonsville area and Patuxent River valley.  Same route as in previous years.  We will do a shorter route for the first few rides to ensure we get back with daylight. The ride leader will make no attempt to keep the group together for the ride, so make sure you have a cue sheet, or GPS file. Make sure you know where you are going or ask someone for help.  Ride leader will insist in single file riding until the top of Howard Chapel road because of the traffic and narrow roads. Please park closer to the Rte 108 side of the parking lot so as to keep the parking places closer to the shopping center open for retail customers. You are riding at your own risk and neither the ride leader nor Potomac Pedalers assumes any responsibility for injuries sustained on the ride.  You are riding at your own risk. Please: Be Visible Be Polite Be Predictable No go in rain or on wet roads. Layton Village Shopping Center (LAV)

Location:Washington, DC
2020-06-27 09:00:00 2020-06-27 09:00:00 America/New_York Georgetown Tailgate Ride Note: This is the same group ride as those starting at 8:00 except this one is for C/CC riders cycling a 27-mile route using a blend of trails and roads. This ride's later start increases the chances that everyone riding in one of the days' group rides arrive back at the ride start at around the same time and so can then celebrate a post-ride meal together at Mr Smith's Pub, across the street from Georgetown Water Park, and where may of us walk our bikes inside and get lunch. And beer of course. Or just beer. Predictions are for a nice Saturday, so fill up your water bottles and lather on the sun screen for a fun ride with us! If you’ve done this ride before, you know we meet on time & we go on time from the foot of Wisconsin Ave. in Georgetown. The 27 mile route starts on Capitol Crescent Trail and will meander in and around Rock Creek Park.  To minimize our carbon footprint, please print your selected cue sheet and/or download a GPX file onto your bike computer. We will not distribute cue sheets at the start. We highly encourage folks to leave their vehicles at home. The Rosslyn Metro Station is around a 1/2 mile away, and the Farragut North station is about a 1-mile trek. For those needing to drive, you can probably find free parking on residential streets above Q Street or otherwise try www.spothero.com for discounts at the local parking lots. If you arrive early and need a little pre-ride caffeine, there are many options in the neighborhood, including the Blue Bottle Cafe around the corner at 1046 Potomac Street. If you have any questions, please get in touch. CC/C: Tim Bouquet [timothy.bouquet@gmail.com] BB/B: Matthew Birnbaum [noshbygosh@icloud.com] [(202) 895-0979]   Georgetown Water Park (GWP)

2020-06-27 09:00:00 2020-06-27 09:00:00 America/New_York Georgetown Tailgate Ride While it may be winter, we still great riding to enjoy together. Please enjoy a  50 mile ride with us! If you’ve done this ride before, you know we meet on time & we go on time from the foot of Wisconsin Ave. at K Street in Georgetown. We head northwest along many of the usual roads, with the 50-miler rest stop at the Travilah Market.  Then it’s back along enoyable roads to Rock Creek Park and Georgetown. This is a mix of flat and rolling hills (and also the climb out of Rock Creek Park.) To increase the chances that everyone arrives together, this group ride starts earlier than the The 27 C/CC group ride.  Yet, after the end of each ride, many of us walk our bikes into Mr. Smith’s Pub on M St. just west of Wisconsin and get lunch. And beer of course. Or just beer. To minimize our carbon footprint, please print your selected cue sheet and/or download a GPX file onto your bike computer. We will not distribute cue sheets at the start. We highly encourage folks to leave their vehicles at home. If you arrive early and need a little pre-ride caffeine, there are many options in the neighborhood, including the Blue Bottle Cafe around the corner at 1046 Potomac Street. and Bluestone Lane a half-block up from the ride start at 1066 Wisconsin Avenue.
