Fundraiser for WABA Women and Bikes Program!! Rockland’s Farm Winery and Market 14525 Montevideo Rd., Poolesville, MD, 20837 Check in/Get Ready: 8 - 9 AM; Ride: 9 -11:30 AM; Wine Tasting Sessions: 11:30 and 12:30 Potomac Pedalers and Washington Area Bicycle Association (WABA) are co-sponsoring this friendly ride for women, to raise money for their Women and Bicycles (W&B) Program. What better way to do this than to combine a great ride in the country with a wine tasting afterwards? We’ll start at end at Rockland’s Farm Winery and Market in Poolesville, where they offer delicious farm produce, fruits and veggies, pasture-raised meat, and award winning wine for sale.  There are two rides for women: a 20 mile slower paced ride (8-10 mph) with a rest stop in Poolesville at mile 7.5. This is a self-supported rest stop so you might want to bring a few dollars to spend at McDonald's or a power bar for a snack. This ride is hilly, but do-able, so be prepared to use your gears. Please allow yourself enough time to bike the route and arrive at the winery for one of the two wine tastings. Registration will be open until about 9 AM. You can view the route at: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/1146104386 The second ride is a 34 mile faster paced route (12-14 mph) with a rest stop in Dickerson at mile 15. This is also a self-supported rest stop so you might want to bring a few dollars to spend at the Dickerson store or a power bar for a snack. Like all rides in the Ag Reserve, there are some nice hills on this ride. Please allow yourself enough time to bike the route and arrive at the winery for one of the two wine tastings. Registration will be open until about 9 AM. You can view this route at: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/1146152476 There will a place to keep your bicycle after the ride and a wine tasting of 10 different wines. Both routes should return to the farm between 11 and 11:30 for the wine tastings. We'll have wine tastings at both 11:30 and 12:30. We will have volunteers who will be able to drive any of your purchases back to the parking lot. You can also order a pizza for lunch or chocolates for dessert to have with any wine you purchase. You will need to let us know that you are planning on ordering a pizza when you register. You will need to order and pay for your pizza and chocolate when you are at the farm. Pizzas from Pizza Brama will be available in different types, and they generally run $10-$20 for a 10” pizza. The pizzas change seasonally, but they all are delicious. You must preregister and pay in advance by June 21 for this ride. The cost is $25 per rider and includes the ride, cue sheets, and wine tasting. A portion of your fee goes to the WABA W&B program. There will be no cancellation refund. If there is inclement weather, we will gather between 11 and 11:30 for wine tasting. If you’d like to volunteer, you can save $10 off the price of the ride; please contact the ride leader Deborah. Where to Park: Parking space is limited so please park nearby at the Riley’s lock parking lot and bike the 2 miles to Rockland’s farm. From the Riley’s lock parking lot, head back out to River Rd, take a left, go 0.3 miles, turn right onto Montevideo Rd. The Farm is 1.1 miles from the turn, after the one lane bridge. There will be about 20 spaces available at the Farm, and they are reserved for volunteers and those who truly can’t add the extra 4 miles round trip.
