2019-01-26 08:00:00 2019-01-26 08:00:00 America/New_York Georgetown Tailgate Ride This awesome multi-class ride caters to all bicyclists in the Club. While all rides will enjoy Beach Drive in Rock Creek Park and scenic northwest DC neighborhood roads, the routes vary based on ride class. The CC through A routes favor great quiet roads to Potomac and adjoining areas before heading back to DC along Beach Drive with one to two rest stops; the C ride blends great trails with quiet residential streets.  For this month's Jul ride, we have ride leaders offering these distances for these groups: CC/B: Ron Tripp (51 miles) B/BB: Matt BIrnbaum  and Bill Schulz (63 miles) All are welcome and encouraged to stay around at ride’s end for a post-ride lunch at Mr. Smith’s pub across the street from the park. And for those looking for pre-ride caffeine, there are a suite of options in the neighborhood, including Blue Bottle Cafe around the corner at 1046 Potomac Street. Note: we highly encourage folks to leave their vehicles at home with the Club helping secure the bikes at post-ride lunch in Mr Smith's.  The Rosslyn Metro Station is around a 1/2 mile away, and the Farragut North station is about a 1-mile trek.  For those needing to drive, you can probably find free parking on residential streets above Q Street or otherwise try www.spothero.com for discounts at the local parking lots. Gen. Beach is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. The start time for the ride will depend upon the weather forecast though most rides will probably start at 1 pm.  In the event of a warmer day, the start time on the PPTC website will changed to an earlier start.  Any changes to the start time (or cancelation due to weather) will be made before 8 am the day of the ride. 2019-01-27 10:00:00 2019-01-27 10:00:00 America/New_York The Winter Ride Series Welcome back to a PPTC tradition, the Winter Ride.  We have been going strong for more than a decade.  The series runs from December through March.  This is a multi-class ride, with a variety of lengths to suit your preference on any given Sunday.  We have multiple ride leaders (see below) and can have up to 50 riders on a good day, so you are very likely to find someone riding your pace and distance. The ride does not go if there is precipitation (snow or rain) or if the roads are very slick due to recent precipitation.  Check this listing on any given Sunday to see if the ride has been canceled on a particular day. The ride starts at the Adventure Playground at South Germantown Recreational Park.  One of the reasons for the ride start location is the heated bathrooms available year 'round.  In addition, we will be riding on low traffic roads in the Montgomery Ag Reserve.   Note: The PPTC site limits the number of ride distance options to 4.  So, the fifth option, the 32 mile route is here:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/6623422 Ask Carol for cue sheets.
