2019-12-13 10:00:00 2019-12-13 10:00:00 America/New_York Friday Lunch Ride We will attempt to go to Rockville this week. However, we're keeping a wary eye on the weather. Starting in January, this ride will move to Viers Mill Park and start at 10:30 am. The listing will change to reflect that. I'll be starting out at Lake Needwood in Derwood and biking to lunch in Bethesda, Rockville, Olney or points elsewhere. I’ll let you know by Thursday of each week where we are going, so check the weekly listing for more information. We try to keep the distance at 30 miles. If the ride will be hilly that week, we usually shorten the distance. Lake Needwood (NEE)

2020-01-01 12:00:00 2020-01-01 12:00:00 America/New_York I've Ridden Every Day This Year! Come join your friends and like-minded bicyclists to celebrate the new year with a ride!  There will be distances from pretty short to around 40 miles, usually with ride leaders self-organizing.  Larry opens the shop for bathrooms and impromptu sales. Bring food and snacks to nibble on and share after your ride while you congratulate yourself on RIDING EVERY DAY THIS YEAR!!!   More details to follow (as of this posting, 12/10/19) ALL paces, multiple distance choices from 12-42 mi. RWGPS is listed here for the 42 mi ride; there will just be cue sheets for all the other distances.   I've Ridden Every Day This Year!!! That's what you'll say the whole day, and hopefully many days following as you start 2019 with cycling miles. No downside. Healthy and fun. This 'inclusive' ride rarely has any dropped riders. From the easy pace of the casual new-hybrid-for-the-holidays rider to the over-achieving racer - we will have local leaders to work with the breaks and stragglers alike in this known-for-being-conversational outing in 'possum country.  In the past we've had a great assortment of tandems, recumbents, and trikes. We'll mingle a bit in the lot, check out each others' clothing, bikes,  and calves, catch up on the year and all start together.  After a few gasps of the country air on our initial "beginners' slope" start, many will know how much of a toll December's parties took out of them.  Because we'd like to arrange enough guides and leaders, and have enough pre- and post-ride refreshments, a nose count in advance (up til the morning of) is requested.  If you have too many temptations left over from December's celebrations and the midnight before, we'll provide table space for food contributions, and beverages. The more you share, the less you'll 'wear'! Please send an email to register@bike123.com so we know how many riders will be attending. Start point is Mt Airy Bicycles, 4540 Old National Pike (Md rte.144), Mt. Airy MD. Restrooms for changing available.  Driving Directions: From the Beltway, I-270 North to Exit 16 (Md 27). Go North/East 12 miles (including twist through Damascus) to MD 144,Old National Pike (Shell Gas on right) Turn right to head East on 144 then 3/4 miles to the shop.   CC: Larry Black [larry@bike123.com] GPS file for 42 mile route https://ridewithgps.com/routes/2095335 Mt.
