New Year, New Ideas - Planning for the Year Ahead

by Robin Sparer, Women's Ride Coordinator

Happy New Year!
I hope everyone is finding a way to stay fit during the winter. Some of us downhill ski, some cross country ski, some hike, walk, spin in studio's,snow shoe and some of us are brave winter cycling warrior's! Whatever is your passion keep moving!!
Robin and her new ebike! After a year of trying to figure out how to ride to work I saw a folding E Bike come across my feed and went and tried it out.I was hooked and bought it. Did I need a fourth bike? No I didn't. But I live to far to commute to work from my home to my office in Petworth, DC and the only type of bike you can take on metro during rush hour is a folding bike. Traditional folding bikes don't have enough gear for my commute so a folding E-bike at 42 lbs was the answer.
For the upcoming 2018 women's cycling season I am hoping for a new approach. I will be reaching out to all of our women riders and asking all of you to be mentors to other women rides. I am hoping that we will have a full calender of PPTC and regional ride options where women can meet up with other women and be mentored by more experienced riders.
I will be repeating last years popular Ride the Refuge in May at Black Water/ Harriet Tubman visitor Center. Returning will be the Wild Goose Chase September 8 and 9th that the PPTC women's group also supports. Please Stay tuned for more details.
If you are interested in being a mentor, want to plan a ride, or have some interesting thoughts or ideas, please let me know.
Thank You,
