Women's Corner - May 2017

Tuesday, May 2, 2017

There is lots going on for the Women of Potomac Pedalers (and also for men, but I’m not covering that here). We have several training groups going for women who want to ride the Back Roads Century this year. We’ll train together and maybe even ride together at the BRC. Feel free to join a group at any time. Check the ride listing for women’s rides. Some of these rides may pop up at the last minute, so check back often.

Robin Sparer has organized a great Women’s ride around the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. The Friends of the Blackwater does a ride every year, The Wild Goose Chase, but decided not to do it this year. Robin stepped up and led the effort to have 3 shorter rides, plus a talk about the Refuge and a potluck. Register on the website. It’ll be a great chance to see some amazing sites and meet with other women cyclists.

Then on June 24, we’ll have our 2nd annual Wine and Women Ride in the Ag Reserve. Well start at Riley’s lock and end up at Rockland Farms for wine tasting. We’ll have details up on the website soon. This was a lot of fun last year and with the move to June and cooler weather, we’re planning on having more fun this year. It should be a good way to see how far along you are with your training for the Back Roads Century.
